HERS West is part of the national network of HERS (Higher Education Resource Services) organizations. HERS is an educational non-profit providing leadership and management development for women in higher education administration. Since 1972 HERS has served the higher education community through the preparation of more than 3,000 women leaders attending HERS Institutes and participating in a variety of HERS Activities. Today HERS Alumnae across the United States, as well as in Canada, South Africa and other nations, are in positions of leadership at all levels--including most senior positions.
Locally, HERS West has been a pivotal force in advancing women's concerns on the Boise State campus. The group was instrumental in establishing a Women's Studies/Gender Studies program of study and the Women's Center in 1992. They have also advocated for a campus climate survey in 2005. They meet regularly during the school year and are open to all faculty and staff women at BSU.
