FAQ

Does the WC have any grants or scholarships for women coming back to school?
We don't, but there are some listed in a link under "resources." Also, the financial aid office has a website that is constantly updated and has information about scholarships. financialaid.boisestate.edu

I am a new student wanting to come to BSU. Can you or someone there help me get started?
Have you applied to the university? If not, you may want to contact the New Student Information center. Their number is 426-1820 and they have all the materials in their office. New Student Information will also set up appointments with their counselors to help you throughout the process.

Have you been away from college for a significant period of time? If so, you may want to apply to our mentor program! You can have a mentor assigned to you for the upcoming semester. We can only accept 20 women each semester so you will want to get your application in as soon as possible. You can also schedule an appointment with our graduate assistant, who supervises the mentoring program. She will be happy to give more information.

Is this the right place for me to call if I am trying to get back into the workforce and need some brush-up training to be able to do this?
No, but we can connect you with the Center For New Directions which helps women get back into the workforce. It is a wonderful program. Their number is 426-4026. They also provide information for GED programs to get your high school diploma.

Is this the women's clinic and do you have any birth control products for women?

I heard that you have a program for returning women and I would like to have more information about it?
Yes, we do have a mentoring program for returning women! Our mentors are all women who have returned to school after a break in their education, and they've all had at least a year of academic success. Some even started out as "mentees" in the program. All it takes to apply is a questionnaire, and after a short interview, you'll be paired up with a mentor who will help you through your first semester back. We also have bi-weekly luncheons hosted by the Returning Women's Discussion Group (a student organization) where women come in to socialize, connect, and enjoy the company of other students who are going through the same transition back to college.

Where is the Women's Center located?
The Center is located across the street from the Student Union Building, at the corner of Lincoln and University Drive. We are located in the same building as the Arbiter, the student newspaper.

Can I get on your mailing list?
Of course! We just need your name, address, phone number, and email to enter you into the database. You can sign up right here [provide link to Mailing List under Volunteering under Get Involved]. We only ask that if you move, that you notify us so we can save resources on stamps.
