S.E.C.K.S. squad

About the S.E.C.K.S. squad:

The S.E.C.K.S. (Securing Effective Consent Keeps it Sexy!) squad, a sex-positive, anti-violence peer theater troupe, formed the fall semester of 2008 and is comprised of students who have successfully completed the three credit Peer Leadership in Interpersonal Violence Education course.

About the class:

Peer Leadership in Interpersonal Violence Education is for anyone interested in becoming a stronger ally and creating meaningful change in campus culture! In this course, you will study intersections of oppression, gender violence, local resources, campus conduct policies, prevention/risk reduction, theater techniques, discussion facilitation, and self awareness. After intensive learning, the class will collaborate to create informative theatrical workshops to share with the campus.

This special topics course is currently cross-listed with Leadership (lower, upper, and graduate divisions offered) and Gender Studies (upper division only).

About Performances:

Performances are interactive and include group discussions on issues related to gender violence, such as: healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention, stalking, sexual assault, and relationship violence. Performances are great for the classroom, residence halls, staff trainings, and many other settings! To schedule the S.E.C.K.S. squad for a performance, contact the Women's Center at 426-4259.
